Veteran Chicago-based Brit punk rocker Jon Langford's country/punk band has a new self-titled record (see our review.) on local indie Sugar Free Records. They also recently played a much-heralded show at NY's CMJ Music Fest (see our review). The formula is similar to Langford's better-known project, the Waco Brothers, but the emphasis is a little more on rock and less on country and the band is a bit pared down. They also seem a bit more focused (and sober) than the exuberent Wacos.
The band is comprised of industry veterans Langford (Waco Brother, Mekons), Mark Durante (ex-KMFDM, Revolting Cocks), Steve Goulding (ex-Gang of Four, Graham Parker and The Rumour) and Alan Doughty (ex-Jesus Jones).
