| This longtime scene veteran is a regular at Buddy Guy's and other blues venues around town. Studebaker John was born in Chicago in 1952 as John Grimaldi - his stage name comes from his car, a 1963 Studebaker Silver Hawk). In his youth in the city, he experienced some of the city's legends first hand: "I can remember a time when you could see Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Hound Dog Taylor and J.B. Hutto too. Being able to see them perform was breath-taking." John's harmonica and guitar style owes a great deal to these masters of the past. Though he plays in a traditional style, he writes his own material that is less derivative than it is an original homage to past styles.
