| Bells main-man Chris Connelly's Scottish upbringing may be reflected in his choral vocal style. His involvement with well-known Chicago industrial outfits Ministry and the Revolting Cocks, though, isn't hinted at much in his current project, the Bells. He's been known to perform Tim Buckley and Fred Neil covers live, and seems to draw countless David Bowie comparisons. The songs, and especially Connelly's singing, to me, bear a far closer resemblance to later Roxy Music. The new album, The Ultimate Seaside Companion (HitIt! Records), follows where his first album left off, and he's assembled a consistent live band to perform the songs in concert.
