| Formed as a collaboration in early 2005, The Engines is a sonically diverse jazz quartet featuring the nimble musicianship of saxophonist Dave Rempis, trombonist Jeb Bishop, bassist Nate McBride and drummer Tim Daisy. When the group first started playing together, they focused on equality by having each member contribute to the oft-structured song creations.
The Engines' first studio recording, a self-titled full-length, was released in fall of 2007 on Okkadisk. The album’s tunes bounce between dexterous runs, subdued tones and mean grooves, often reflecting the musical personalities of the players themselves. The Engines has performed around Chicago and will embark on a week-long European tour in November 2008.
