| Originally out of rural Ottowa, Illinois, Torben Floor is comprised of brothers Carey (vocal, guitar) and Chris (bass, vocals) Ott, Doug Sale (drums) and John Mooney (guitar, vocals). They have a self-recorded and produced debut Live Music in The Apartment out on Waterdog Records (1998). The band shows surprising maturity and depth on the disc. Ott's vocals and songwriting skills are nicely complimented by the subdued production and acoustic setting. Think of Radiohead without the mind-boggling pretentiousness and goofy noises or perhaps vintage Replacements, but replace their anger with a wistful sadness.
