Tyrone Davis

May 4, 1938 - February 9, 2005
One of Chicago's best-loved R&B singers (a late '80s Billboard survey placed him 30th on the all-time top R&B charts), Tyrone Davis began recording during the '60s (for the Four Brothers' label). After coming to the national spotlight with "Can I Change My Mind" (on Dakar), he recorded more than 50 hit songs.

He was one of the city's more popular singers, with a voice alternately mucular and crooningly vulnerable. His backups, the Platinum Band, are also among Chicago's best.

Sadly, Tyrone Davis died in February 2005 from complications of a stroke he suffered last September that he was unable to recover from. He is survived by his wife Ann and many children.
