Undercast

Undercast is a five-piece band hailing from the Windy City of Chicago. Using punk and metal overtones combined with melodic pop songcraft, the band exudes an aggressive but refined sound complimented by heartfelt lyrics and near-perfect structure. The songs are invigorating and inviting, catchy yet complex. Easily able to use heavy guitar hooks and unusual time signatures in a warm and flowing manner, Undercast is not a 3-chord pop band. They have maintained the innocence of originality while taking inspiration from many genres of music. Guitarist John Wayman comprised Undercast in the fall of 2002 after an extensive search through military style recruiting. Since that time, the band has undergone several line-up changes including three different vocalists. By mid-2003, the army of Undercast was complete. The band consists of Denis Buckley (formerly of 88 Fingers Louie and The Story So Far) on vocals, John Wayman (ex-Hardball) on guitar, Colin Bradford (ex-Doxie, Screwtape) on guitar, Patrick Burns on bass and Justin Dennis on drums.

Undercast sounds like a mix of Sparta, Sunny Day Real Estate, Shiner, Quicksand and Thursday.
