| Contemporary Chicago composer whose 1980 composition Snowcarols was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. An advocate of 20th-century choral music, Ferris has been Organist of Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral, music director and composer-in-residence at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on W. Belmont, and was the founder of the William Ferris Chorale. William Ferris passed away in 2000.
