If you're like most of us, living in a city that owns a Picasso is as close as you'll get to having one of your own. Next time you're downtown-bound, stop by the Daley Plaza to get up close and personal with a once-controversial work of art. The sculptural, enigmatic black figure (I don't know; it looks kind of like a seahorse to me) was installed in Daley Plaza in 1968. At the time, Chicagoans shirked away from such an unintelligible figure. Today, our oh-so-modern mentality lets us embrace the piece, look at art without paying the AIC admission fee and have something to show off to out-of-town guests.
