Well, I'v become a regular here. This is my favorite restaurant. Many of the staff know me by name. The food is consistently great and the atmosphere is comfy. You can show up dressed up or casual and fit in. I highly recommend this place!

I have been to Broadway Cellars 4 times. Each time with different friends with varying tastes and pocketbooks. They now recognize me and welcome me when they see me which is a very nice touch. Each time I was there the cocktails were excellent, the wine was good and the appetizers were very tasty. I have not had dinner there yet, but I surely will soon. I think it is a warm and welcoming place with very tasty and nicely presented food. I am so happy to have such a pleasant family feeling little place in this neighborhood now. A place to go with a friend after the opera to have a chocolate martini then go home. My friends have really enjoyed it too and they are "downtown" type of gals. I hope you enjoy it too!

I have to disagree with "Jack" I have been to "The Room" and "South" while I liked their food, I agree, they had a hard time drawing people in. I sense something different with Broadway cellars. Although service has been a little slow at times, it has always been very friendly. The managers and staff have done everything possible to make us comfortable. The second time we came in, the server recognized us and brought us a free "off the menu" dessert. The wine list is not huge, but the choices are great and affordable. A sommelier? Well that would be great, but it's not that kind of restaurant and Edgewater isn't looking for something that costs $100 a person. This is a cozy, California style place and I love it. My favorite dish has to be the mussels, the best I have had ANYWHERE! The steak and portabello skewers are amazing, they also have a delicious Tuna tartar with wasabi cream sauce that I love.

We haven't had many entrees. My husband I just enjoy sipping the wine and having a few bites. We have had the bread pudding which is outstanding.

Give this place a try, it's a great cozy place.

Broadway Cellars has only been open 4 or 5 weeks and I've dined there 3 times. I've recommended it to others who have returned to dine again. It's a winner! I had the most wonderful pork tenderloin (to die for!) and the mussels have surpassed any mussels I've ever had. They were not overpowered by garlic and they were big and juicy and tender. Mmm good. The portions are ample, but not so huge that your forced to share. My friends and I loved every thing we've tasted. It's a winner and wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The wine list was excellent and affordable.

Both The Room and South died in this location because they couldn’t pull people back in. Unfortunately, I think Broadway Cellars is going to go the same way. Reasons: The food is good, but unremarkable. The service is lousy; I’m all for newbie waiters, but is that really what a newbie restaurant needs? The wine-by-the-glass list is small. (Remember this is supposed to be a wine restaurant.) The décor is a nightmare. I’ve seen college dorm rooms that looked more like wine cellars. (BC, if you’re going to go with a theme, go with it! Stop pulling your punches. Wine bottles should cover every wall. Get rid of those awful window treatments. List the wines that you think should go with the meal. Or hire a sommelier? Or waiters who know something about wine and will offer up that knowledge?) There is nothing in this restaurant that enhances the idea of the restaurant. Bread: this is a wine restaurant, right? The bread was awful. Cheap and cheaply wrought, the bread wasn’t even warmed. Rather than an added bonus to a meal, it made me want to walk across the street to Dominick’s to get something worth putting in my mouth. All in all, they have a great idea that they are failing to follow through on. I want this restaurant to do well. I may even go back in a couple of weeks to see if they have improved. It will be sad to see this space empty again, but right now, I’m only giving it a couple of months.
