A friend of mine had her bachelorette party in the city this past weekend, and had heard that The Gage has the best brunch in Chicago. I was immediately impressed by the decor--beautiful green tilework and dark wood. (The bathrooms were very stylish, too.) Our server was attentive and informed. The owner greeted us when we came in, chatted us up a bit, and bought the bride a mimosa. Very nice touch. I had the eggs benedict, which were good. Others in our group had the giardiniera omlette, potato omlette, and french toast. We agreed that the french toast was fabulous. The brie potatoes were good but a bit greasy for my tastes. Excellent coffee. All in all a great experience. I'll be coming back to sample the lunch menu. This would also be a great spot for after-work happy hours or dinner.
