I was at the closet last weekend and had a blast. They must have changed their staff from the reviews that are posted here because I have no complaints about the "prison warden" attitude that a lot of you are talking about. Enjoyed the drinks and the fun and friendly atomosphere. Quite the hottie working the door too. I will definitely be back.

This place has gone down hill FAST! I went there after I got home from work one night to meet some friends. It was about 9 PM (I had to work late), I hadn't had one drink yet, I walked in the door and a drunk girl fell into me. The VERY rude woman checking ID's told me I had to leave because I was too drunk. When I told her I hadn't had a drink all night, she called me a liar and said I smelled like a brewery. Maybe it was her perfume, because I don't drink beer and I was sober!!! Besides the butchy checking ID's at the door, everyone else that I have come in contact with there (workers) have been really nice...but butchy has made me vow to never go back there...it's not worth fighting with someone who would rather have a drunk pretty girl in the bar who can't stand up, then a sober pretty boy who was ready to have a good time. I went over to Spin instead and had fun with my friends!

This place has apparently turned into quite the clip joint - not only is there now a "two -drink minimum" but there have been reports of patrons apparently being deliberately short - changed...

I have recently moved from Boston to Chicago and upon the recommendation of several friends, visited "The Closet".....what a bomb! I have never felt less welcome than here! Very clique oriented and certainly gives first preference to women...what a sad statement from within the community. From the abrasive ID checker at the door to the woman with a "chip on the shoulder" behind the bar, it was evident that the welcome mat was missing. The bartender seemed more interested in serving several women (who arrived after me) first even though I stood directly in front of her. When I got her attention, it was as if was daring to interrupt the four of them. It's only a couple blocks away, but I'd rather fly home to "Cheers" in Boston than face the attitude at "The Closet."

Hostile. That's a good word to describe the staff. I know there are limited choices in bars for lesbians but why would you put up with that? I used to go a lot and always had fun but I noticed that its getting worse. One of the door woman (not the normal scary warden) actually told me to move from the front window and sit in back - when I asked why I would move, she said "Cause I'm telling you to!!". It was a prison bitch moment.

I had the best PRIDE weekend at The Closet. The place was jamming all weekend long. Thanks Chicago for an awesome parade. And thanks Closet for a great time! My girl and I will definitely be back with friends next time we're in town. Happy PRIDE!

I enjoy The Closet every time I go. I've found the bartenders to be welcoming. I haven't been late on a Saturday for a while. But I haven't had a negative experience there. They have huge martinis that are only $9. I don't know of a better deal than that around town.
