Bat 17 is terrific place for sandwiches, and I don't mind the price since even the "smaller" size made 2 meals for me. My husband had corned beef, I had the Diego Rivera balawat, fancy words for a chorizo omelette on very thick but airy sourdough. We split a hot brownie with ice cream for dessert. We thought the food was thoughtfully prepared and presented, and ingedients were very high quality. The restaurant has several top-notch suppliers for its baked goods, most notably breads from Bennison's. We recommend the gorgonzola cole slaw as a nice alternative to traditional sandwich sides! Because of its tight seating, Bat 17 is a good place for singles and adult couples; we found it a bit challenging with our 1-year-old. Also, the menu is a bit self-congratulatory; it describes the balawat as heavenly and transcendent, without actually describing what it IS!

I had a pastrami on pumpernickel, I was heated through(which is hard for some places to accomplish), the sandwich tasted great and the place was neat and clean. The dining/ bar area are pretty cool looking and free coffee is always good. BUT 13.50 for a sandwich! that is pretty high. Albeit the meat was very nice but not nice enough for me to pay so much for a sandwich again.
