Wonderful wonderful wonderful... I went there for a business meeting a few months ago and I'm hoping to go back very soon. We were there in the late morning to early afternoon... the place does get busy but it's got great coffee & food. Great neighborhood spot!

Located right underneath the Western blue line station, Vella is a sparsely decorated but sunny room that goes along well with the demeanor of the friendly staff and the fresh, tasty food. Vella specializes in breakfast/brunch items (think breakfast hash, pancakes, scrambles, etc), as well as panini, scrumptious baked goods (“The Cookie”, made from peanut butter, oatmeal and chocolate chips, is divine!), and coffeehouse drinks (including a wonderful Vietnamese Iced Coffee). Weekday carry-out breakfast specials for commuters. Definitely vegetarian friendly.

I chose their crepes (with butter and cinnamon sugar) and a side of bacon for breakfast. The food took a little bit to arrive, but it was very hot and obviously freshly made. The crepes were well made, not overly sweet, and topped with a couple of peach slices. The bacon was extraordinary: Four slices to an order, crispy and redolent of hickory smoke. Yummy.

Orders are taken and paid for at the counter, and a server will then bring the order to the customer's table. Food is cooked to order, so expect a not-unreasonable wait.

went there for brunch and food is pretty good, but it is very noisy and you really cant have a converstion. also, have to order at the counter and then find a table, really not a very relaxing place, but probably good if you are on the run.

Nice setting. Great sandwiches. It's a little overpriced, but they can get away with it. I gues.....

We have been waiting for this place to open for a year or so. These folks provided food at the Green City Market for several years. Needless to say we were very impressed with breakfast and predict there will be long lines in the future. Great food, great location, great people!

Just had breakfast at the newest walk from my home establishment. I have to say that I was way impressed by the food. I had a polenta plate that had salsa verde and two poached eggs. It was very good. My kids had pancakes that had lingonberries and whipped cream. Thankfully there were three cakes so I had the opportunity to have a lot of bites. I am happy to have this in our neighborhood and will be sure to make many return visits.

There's only one drawback. If you don't show up right when they open you may wait a little longer than you would like. I'm sure that in a short amount of time the pleasant owners of this establishment will improve on service. The staff was very friendly which allows me to overlook the short wait.

    I totally highly recommend Vella.
