Been there multiple times, and it's always been HORRIBLE. I don't know why I go back...although the food isn't bad. The service though is insane. We waited 10 minutes for them to clear off a table, 20 minutes to order food. 30 minutes for onion rings, and another 20 minutes for our food. We finally just went to the bar for our drinks. Getting the bill was like pulling teeth. It was all very sad. Wake up people! No wonder you're struggling.

Have tried and loved Halsted’s Bar and Grill many times. The first time we went we had a small issue with the speed of service but were also issued with a discount meal (without even asking) and receiving many sincere apologies from the staff. After that trip we have been back about 10 times, all problem free with great food and service.

Never again ! The same god-awful service as when it was X/O ! We went last Sat night, put our name in at 8:00 for a table outside. We inquired at 9:00 how much longer the wait would be and the host just exploded at us about how the kitchen was "very small"! When we saw our table ready at 9:15 we asked if we could at least sit down. Again a sassy reply from the host. At 10:00, still not seated, we ask again how much longer. The host now advises us that they've "stopped serving for a while". No apologies, or any attempt to make us feel welcome. Um, what ? You're a restaurant and you can't accomodate all the tables in your place ? We just walked out and were promptly seated at Firefly with beautiful service.

Took a friend here for a birthday a couple weeks ago and waited 45min to be jammed in a miniature booth. My chicken fingers were cooked with fish batter and were disgusting. I had to pull the skin off and eat the bare chicken meat. Everything was overpriced. The only saving grace was that our waitor was HOT. This restaurant will never last with experiences like this.

Went to this restaurant with friends since I'd had good times before.
This time the visit was with my 40+ year old friends and not my 20 something cute friends.
What a difference. Service was extremely slow. No service for drink refreshments, no water replacements. Waited for food for over an hour to which point we told the waiter it was too long and he told us it wouldn't be bad if we left. We did leave. Can't comment on the food cus the service was so terribly slow.
Best thing to do is hire a cute guy to join you so you get better service.

after trying this bar and grill many times, the food is cold the service sucks. the bar will do better is they quick hiring staff that have no idea of what they are doing. just because they are cute, does not mean they are smart.
The only person that knows how to treat guest is the gray hair bar guy that works in the smoking area.
the food just suck!

The whole experience last night was awful. The waiter was horrible. He never poured water after taking our order so we asked the host. I'm not picky but to wait 30 minutes for bar food, you would've expected quicker service. The chix breast was like shoe leather. There was no apology and not even a check back on the food. Not only that but when we received the bill, the price of the sandwich went from 9.95 to 12.95. Instead of wasting our time waiting for him to fix the check we just gave him the underserved tip and didn't even say thanks. I can't see this place making it if they don't start making big improvements right away. It's pride weekend and I have a feeling that they will turn off a lot of people; never to return and I can't blame them because my friends and I will definitely NOT be going back. Bottom line, Halsted's has terrible service, terrible food, terrible drinks and ridiculous prices.

I went there one day thinking I would try the place out. The service was terrible. When the food finally came, my friend's chicken sandwich was very dry and practically unedible. Would have complained but the server disappeared. When he showed up 15 minutes later you got the impression that we were being pushed to leave.
My burger was ok but really expensive, can you imagine paying $11.50 for a bacon cheeseburger before tax and tip. This place really tries to screw with customers, $1.50 for cheese, $2 for two pieces of bacon on a sandwich come on!
I have heard nothing but terrible comments from people about this place both service and food. It's a great conversation starter with people, ask someone about it and they start to vent!!

The food we ordered was great, but there were so many great looking things on the menu, I defintitely will be back soon to try a few new selections. Nice atmosphere, too.
