My boyfriend and I loved this place until tonight. Great naan, samosas, tandoori chicken, ect. When I placed my order I repeatedly said "chicken Madras" and the person on the phone kept saying "chicken makhani" Of course I ended up with chicken makhani. The driver complained of the distance he had to drive. When I called to correct my order, they didn't offer to do anything about it and complained again about how far I live from them (we've ordered from Bombay Kabob House numerous times). I asked them to send the correct dish and they refused. They also refused to credit my debit card (the makhani was more expensive then the madras). They kept putting different people on the phone telling me that I had ordered makhani (I love the Madras!). Great food but poor customer service.

The food was below average, almost generic in quality, and the owners/manager kept the tip to herself. The manager hovered by our table like a hawk to make sure the waitress didn't touch the cash.We will never go back to this place, ever.

Fantastic food! Order anything on the menu and you should be well satiated. I should know - I order a different dish every time I am there (about once a week).

I have tried many Indian Cuisine restaurants on Devon, but there has been no consistany in the taste. I call myself a very picky eater and hates to waste my money, but this place is the best I ever, ever tasted and I've been there over a half a dozen times and I've never been disappointed. I love this place, I would recommend it to everyone, the flavors are wonderful. Go and try it, I bet you will not be disappointed. I have never commented on a restaurant before, but this place was so good I had to tell someone

I love this place. Love it love it love it! I've never tried their buffet (they offer for lunch and dinner), but I've eaten there MANY TIMES. (For lunch and dinner.) It's always very good, the workers and owners are always really nice and it helps that they have a parking lot behind their restaurant. (There's also street parking...) I go there as much as I can. This is definitely worth going to many times over. I live close to Devon and have tried various kinds of Indian food, and this is my favorite. The restaurant itself is HUGE, very comfortable, nice decor and CLEAN! Their food is consistantly delicious and I've tried several different dishes and do tend to order things I"ve gotten in the past - and it's always good. They are more than wiling to deliver (I've called in an order to pick up and they ask if I want it delivered so I don't have to make a trip out there - I generally decline because it's fun to eat some Naan in the car. ;o) ) They have so many different dishes, both vegeterian and non-vegetarian, naan and rice dishes. It's worth every penny!!

Bombay Kabab House at Evanston provides best indian food I ever tasted in and around Chicago; no other Indian resturent in Devon could match its taste.

This restaurant revitalized my interest in Indian food. Easy parking in a quiet area of south Evanston (on the Rogers Park border) is a treat after hunting for space on Devon. The restaurant is super clean with nice atmosphere and the food is a great value. It's elegant Indian cuisine featuring top ingredients.
There are 16 types of nan (bread) from crispy spicy flatbread to pillowy plain nan to a variety of stuffed nan.The creamy dal makhani -- black lentils with tomato, ginger and garlic is the best.Plenty of options for vegetarians, with generous entree portions under $9. The lamb featured in numerous dishes and curries is tender and sweet--not greasy or stringy. Appetizers are under $3 and most fish or chicken entrees are under $12.All are great for sharing with the herbed saffron Basmati rice. On-par with or better than the "fine dining" Indian restaurants charging twice as much, and a huge step up from the greasy, too-spicy or too-bland fare found on Devon Ave. Classic Indian cooking herbs and spices like coriander, curry, fennel, cardamom, garlic and more are used subtly and creatively, never to excess. Vegetables are super fresh.
The roomy restaurant features some non-Indian items for youngsters, and you can probably special order other kid food from the gracious hostess Ayisha and her husband Jamal (the chef). If you love Indian food, this place is an eye opener. If you haven't tried it, this is the place.BYOB.

My girlfriend and I just discovered Bombay Kebab. Oh my goodness how incredibly delicious! By far my favorite Indian restaurant in Chicago. All the ones on Devon are so tired. Bombay Kabob has the BEST Saag (paneer, chicken, or lamb) that I've ever eaten! Incredible Buhna. Their dals - so flavorful and aromatic. Their nan is also terrific. The owners, chef and waitstaff are so friendly, pleasant and attentive! I can't recommend this restaurant enough. You will not be disappointed. Take a break from the regular Devon choices! -SP
