Taza is amazing. I was raised in Berkeley, CA, and Taza reminds me of the coffee shops in my neighborhood, only better. They serve the best coffee in Chicago, Intelligentsia , and always with a smile. The owner is everything you want in a local business owner too. passionate, down to earth and committed to their neighborhood. The employees are friendly but not too peppy or intense, and the environment is relaxing and charming. I love the decor - it makes me feel like I'm drinking coffee in a friend's converted garage.

Honestly the only reason I didn't break out star number five is that Taza is a victim of it's own success and if you go during a busy time you can forget about finding somewhere to sit.

But who cares? hell, Taza is worth standing in.

I've tried many, many, many coffee shops and cafes in the city to work in, but Taza has completely become my regular go-to spot because it is everything I've ever wanted in a coffee shop and more. I was a little reluctant to let everyone in on my spot for awhile because I didn't want it to get crowded... but I want them to keep getting the great business they currently have so that they'll stay open forever and ever and ever....

And btw, I like their tip jar, it is unique and fun. :)

So I just came home from another great day of writing (I'm a writer) at Taza, buzzed and happy because of the great atmosphere there, and realized that I've never written Taza, my home-away-from-home, a review. So here I am.

I've been coming here since about... Oh, I don't even remember. I'd passed by it en route to a friend's place, and as a writer, I'd been searching for a good regular coffee shop to do work in for a long time. From the outset, the staff was very friendly, giving me food recommendations, listening to my ideas of what I thought would be cool for a place like this, and just being all around very welcoming.

The things I love about Taza as a coffee shop: - Really good food: fresh salads that are delicious. Get the chicken pesto. So good. - Great teas and coffees - okay, or so I've heard about the coffees from friends, since I don't drink coffee. - Nice selections of cookies and do not forget the Baklava. - Happy hour specials. - Art that changes often. - Great decoration. - Have I mentioned the friendliest, nicest staff and ownership EVER? They take very good care of me……….continue

This is, without a doubt, my favorite coffee shop in the north side. The baristas are super friendly and greet you with a warm conversation. Their Intelligentsia coffee tastes great and I like their Soy Chai Latte much better than any other coffee shop I've been to. It's much thicker, spicer and sweeter. I continue to love this coffee shop more and more because of the following reasons: They're family owned, reasonable prices, and you can say "the usual" and they remember. I'm never let down. Thanks Conservatory!

Alexendra, That's strange that you had that expirence during an interview at Taza Coffee and that you have the same style of writing and frequent grammar mistakes as the owner. Because a little less then a year ago I interview for a job at Taza Coffee. The owner was very inappropriate. He made rude comments about my clothing. He asked if I was dating anyone. When I answered that I had a girlfriend he persisted and ask if I ever had dated men (UGH!) He had me watch him close the store. He was essentially training me and it took almost two hours! He said at the end of the 'interview' that he wanted to hire me. He told me to come in a week later. I did at the scheduled time. He told me at that time that they were not actually hiring. No email. No call. He wasted my time. He behaved appallingly.

I saw not two weeks later the ad go up again on craigslist. I have seen the ad appear frequently since then. Then just today a woman told me that she had such a strikingly similar expirence to me. I have decided to file a report to the city. I have also decided to spread my expirence to as to warn other woman about this sexual harassment trap. Do not go to Taza Coffee. More importantly never, ever apply.

Taza Coffee House has placed an add for a job through the craigslist and I was called for an interview. I came about 30 minutes earlier to check out the place. My first impression when I entered the café was very positive, the place so cozy and comfort, I love the colors and the atmosphere. I ordered a latte, without introducing myself, it was so delicious they are using intelligentsia which is plus plus. The service was excellent; I found out later that the barista behind the counter was the owner.

It was a surprise when the owner found out that I am the one who’ve been called for the interview. The interview was so nice. The owner was extremely nice and very open minded. It was very relaxed, I felt that I know the guy for long time, he was down to earth. He made me feel important; he was so respectful, not like some other interviewer who looks only to the body of the girl and how pretty she is. I did not felt that from him. That interview was different from any interview I had in the past. I wish all the managers and the owners give a nice, relaxed, comfort interview. I am not writing this to get the job, but I thought I have to do this because I owe him something for made me comfort and, also, the good time I have there. Wish the owner and Taza the very best.

The owner is as warm and friendly as you can get. The sandwiches are awesome.

The baristas are friendly and exceptional. Whether you are having a cappuccino or an iced coffee, you will never be disappointed with quality of your drink. They also have a Buy 10, get 1 Free punch card.

Taza Coffee House is my favorite neighborhood spot. The folks working at the place are always a joy to be around. Their energy only enhances the tasty coffee and sandwiches they offer. The prices are good, the people are great. This place is a feel good destination for sure.
