I was at the Oktoberfest last year and I thought they did a great job. Of course you cannot compare it to the Oktoberfest celebrations held in cities like Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Cleveland, etc. where well trained and organized large German-American organizations are behind the scenes putting things together. Three cheers to the Lions club for their hard work and don't forget that this is only the third year. I expect it only to improve as the years pass. Also, who else but the Lions club would be smart enough to use Oktoberfest as a tool to raise money for worthy causes? It boggles the mind that other groups and organizations haven't yet realized that German-Americans are the largest ethnic group in the U.S. and have been untapped for many decades. 60 million Americans with cash in their pockets longing to spend it on German cultural related events. Great Job to the Lions Club and I look forward to being there again. P.S. Galena needs a real Hofbrauhaus.
