Stopped going to Cunneens a couple of years ago, when they stopped cleaning the place, playing music and being kind to the patrons. Miss what it was - go to Candlelite Chicago instead!

Despite my love for everything in Rogers Park, Cunneen's is an embarrassment. It is dirty, dark, and empty... which I would be happy to over look if I had received a single kind word or a moment of good service. At my last visit I ordered a beer and I could swear the bartender picked up the bottle off the floor and then charged my $3.50 (which I refused to pay). Even dive bars should have a fridge. I live around the block, so I have made too many attempts to enjoy this bar. Cunneen's has failed me every time.

Cunneem's is a place for people And dogs.

Ut;s a shot and a beer place, a mixed drink if it as two ingredients. Unless you've attained regular status. Then there are perks. We're not anti-social. We're not into clicks. We just value friendship.

If you're a regular, you can bring your own CDs that you think the crowd will like. You can request an artist or a song.

The weekends are often party nights. It's more sedate during the week. Sturday and Sunday afternoons you can find pets and families in residence, People read the Sunday paper.

The bar sells chips and peanuts - there are menus to order from nearby restaurants. It's cash only, but the gas station a block away has an ATM.

Come by sometime and talk to us!

Started going to 'neens in 1975, still go. for beer. for companionship. for intelligent conversation, the best music, a pool table without malice, a reading room, scrabble/chess games in the sunny storefront area, Cubs games - and Ed Holstein formerly of Holstein's, folksinger extraordinaire and a hell of a bartender.
