Great service, medicore food. Scrawny portions, bland flavors. Forgettable and over priced. Many better options in Chicago.

I was pleasantly suprised today when I ate at Violet. It is a vibrant, contemporary atmosphere with a wonderful menu. I ate a tomato, mozerella, and pesto quiche which is highly recommended. The pancake portions were very generous also. The prices were affordable which really impressed me, I wasn't expecting such a great experience. I would not have hoped for such great service from a high-end restaurant, but the waiters went above and beyond normal service to make recommendations and were patient with us while we took our time to decide what to eat.

Ate there this past Saturday, the coffee is delicious and I recommend choosing the sourdough toast with your meal. The servers seemed to dissapear on occassion and would have appreciated a little more follow-through after the meal was brought to our table. The food overshadowed the sub-par service and we will definitely return, better luck next time?
