Recently, after visits to MacArthur's and Dixie Kitchen, I resigned myself to believing that in trying to find truly good Southern food in Chicago, I might as well have been searching for the Holy Grail. Well, it seems I found the Holy Grail last night. Big Jones is everything I wanted and more. From the exceptional crawfish fritters and perfect execution of grits and andouille sausage, to the tastiest preparation of beets I've ever had, everything placed on my table delighted me--and all at a reasonable price. I'm sold.

Great place...love the decor and the tasting menu was interesting with southern touches and excellent presentation. A steal for only $24. Waiter was friendly, but service was slow. Would go back again...very happy that I found this place. The only other note is that this place is a bit on the noisy side so at times it was very hard to hear our waiter and vice versa.

Went here for breakfast last week thought I would be adventurous and ordered the shrimp and biscuits. Not a very good breakfast/brunch entree. Biscuits were so smothered in red sauce couldnt tell they were buttermilk. Sauce wasnt very savory either. It was like a heavy ragu spaghetti sauce. There were a total of 4 tiny shrimp. Where was the holy trinity hash??? Perhaps it was somewhere under the slop of sauce??? The atmospere was nice but the music was very loud.

They need window coverings, saw some people totally blinded by the sunlight one evening and they were not happy. The food was tasty but texture of the pork chop was like a tough wild board.
Finally, someone in chicago with sweet tea!
Servers were very cordial.

My opinion, not so good. Service was lacking, food disappointing. The special, crawfish etoufee... Popeye's chicken does better. The rice was off; the whole thing tasted fishy. Cocktails were a disappointment, never got to a 2nd round because our waiter forgot about us. The room itself was very noisy. All in all, not a pleasant dining experience.
