They just had a fire there. Hopefully didn't damage the joint beyond repair. All that grease had to go somewhere, like up in flames!

One of the best diner's in the midwest. Open 24 hours + greasy awesome food= best place ever. If you need a place to get some sweet food after a night of awesomeness(booze) then you've found your place. Plus there's juke box if you're still up for more tunes.

I ate the Slinger about 15 minutes ago.
Time for a nap.

Sweet Jesus, the Diner Grill, home of the appalling (yet brilliant) slinger. Hundreds of drunken evenings I've shown my mug at this establishment, sometimes both pre-bar and post-bar in the same night. It really is one of the last 'REAL' diners, being two old train cars strapped together. The food is basic, extremely consistent and very passible (and yes greasy). The DG is a place where you can come when you just don't want to go to one of the greek dumps (we all know which ones I'm talking about) and get a cup of coffee and some eggs at 3am, any day of the week. I've brought some 'sheltered' suburban types there, they were horrified, but you have to look at the details... The cooking surfaces are blindingly clean and I can honestly say I've NEVER gotten the least bit sick from any of the food, not even the one Slinger I've eaten. Give it a shot, ignore the horrid facade and support a landmark (if I recall correctly from my memory-fragments at the place it first opened in 1937 and has been open ever since). Oh yes, the best part is that your food is cooked literally right in front of you so if you are particular about your hash browns or something you can advise the cooks. A+ to the DG for doing its job well.
