Just a heads up, Earwax was recently shut down by the city for recurring violations. They had/have a rat infestation.

The food was mediocre, not spiced well, and not worth the money. There are so many other great vegetarian restaurants, I don't know why you'd go to this one. The atmosphere was interesting, but still not worth the price of the less than great food quality.

I love coming here. The food is good, the people are nice & the atmosphere is fun. Also a bonus, they have transgender friendly restrooms. It was nice to pee stress free.

I'm heading to Earwax tonight and I am excited. So far I have tried the cheddar cheese sweet potato quesadillas with black beans, the eggplant sandwich and the banana nut pancakes. All of those were stellar. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I've taken out-of-town friends here to rave reviews. Very good.

"Hipsters"??? I wouldn't exactly call the patrons that. Maybe they should wash those clothes that they bought from the thrift store. Although the food is good, not great, but good, the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. The place feels grimy and dirty, and sitting so close to other people who don't smell fresh ruins the experience. The servers are really nice and helpful, but they don't look so clean either. One doesn't even wear a bra, or if she does it doesn't provide support. That's just not the right way to look if you serve food. The place could use redecorating badly, or maybe that would take away from the "hip" that it's supposed to portray.

this was my worst dining experience in chicago- and believe me, i've been to many restaurants here. the place is dirty and smelly. while the so called 'hipsters' of wicker park seem to worship this place, i can't quite understand what the fuss is about. the only positive thing i can say is that the staff was friendly. other than that, the food was less than average and if you're not into vegan food stay away! the restrooms are similar to the ones i saw in the turkish province: you want to walk out backwards immediately!

The messy black bean burger (I'm vegan, so I ordered it w/out cheese & slaw) was very good. I love their veggie sausage patties. Amazing vegan cookies. The waiters are very nice, and the scenery is awesome.

mixed review
one of the seitan sandwiches is excellent and one of them is not. choose carefully.
the vegetarian stirfry - was plain, tasteless, and not worth the money.
blueberry milkshake- very good
