My mom comes here with her friend from Ecuador and they love it. I went to pick her up and tried the arroz con mariscos or camarones* and it was fabulous. The humitas are to die for. And so is the salsa that goes with it.
I don't know about the beef feet, but if you want excellent rice with seafood, this is the place to go.

Restaurant Ecuador is a wonderful restaurant with excellent food. I was raised there and it's true I am the grandaughter of the owners there and I've watched them make the food. It's delicious and I grew up on it, I haven't been there since my grandparents no longer own it, but it's a great restaurant

I ON THE OTHER HAD HAD A GREAT TIME AT RESTAURANT ECUADOR. THE FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS, WHICH WAS OBVIOUS BECAUSE THE SON OF THE OWNER WS OUR WAITER, WAS GREAT HE FULLY DESCRIBED ALL THE ENTREES TO THE DOT. I WAS GOING TO ECUADOR ON A BUSINESS TRIP SO I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT, MY CO-WORKER HAD RECOMMENDED I GO THERE, SO I DID. THE FOOD WAS GREAT. THE HUSBAND OF THE OWNER WAS GREAT, THE ATTENTION WAS GREAT. WHEN I FAMILY COME DOWN TO VISIT THAT IS THE FIRST RESTAURANT I TAKE THEM TO, AND THEY LOVE IT. I HAVE BEEN THER SEVERAL OF TIMES AND I'VE HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE EVERY TIME.

Disappointing from the word "go." I lived in Ecuador for a significant for quite some time before returning to the States, and I'm constantly looking for food to bring back memories. While in Chicago, I stumbled upon this place. Their hours are posted, but rarely honored-- I had to come back three times before I found them actually open during their posted hours.
The menun was convincing enough, and the husband and wife that own and operate the restaurant are Ecuadorian. The execution, however, was poor and at a terribly high price tag-- I spent as much on lunch as I had at the Palmer House the day before. Walking in, it looks like one of those places that either will have great food despite the low decor, or will have food that matches the barely functional dining area. It's the latter rather than the former. Even ingredients that are an easy snag in almost any latino market in Chicagoland (there is even at least one Ecuadorian specific grocer), this restaurant's effort rates zero to one star. If you want a casual Ecuadorian meal, go to "Mr. Pollo" instead, and let them know you're looking for good Ecuadorian food-- half the price, and ten times the satisfaction.
