Hello! Please help me get in contact with anyone knowing things about the history of this address and it´s activity. My great-grandmother owned a bakery back in (I think) 1932. Her name was Miss Esther Quist, from Sweden, Europe. I´m trying to find out more about her life. Maybe I can contribute with information too :-) Please, please! I really want to know!! THANK YOU, sincerely Helena

This restaurant was an unexpected gem! You wouldn't think it in this neighborhood. The steak and chicken were tender and flavorful. The snapper fell off the bone and accompanied by the spicy sauce that came with it-nice! The arroz con pollo was excellent. The price was about twenty bucks per person; not bad!

My first visit to Conoce Mi Panama was over the weekend, and I'm already looking at my calendar for when I can stop by for another meal and good conversation.
This spot has a totally dynamic combination of elements...warm and inviting colors and decor, incredibly friendly and welcoming owners that trickles into a warm feeling toward the other diners, and of course, food that is so fresh, so tasty and wonderful that you don't want to stop eating.
My friend and I shared the Yuca frita, had the chicken soup of the day (and both agreed the corn in the soup was the BEST tasting corn of all time), and the Arroz con Coco. My friend had the Chicheme and it was fantastic. We topped it all off with the Bread Pudding for dessert...I peeked at the Ropa Vieja someone else had ordered and plan to have that next time. I don't regret a single choice we made in my order (except that I didn't order a glass of Chicheme for myself).
Everything about my experience was positive. Price great, atmosphere wonderful, food terrific. Check it out!

Being a Panamanian in Chicago and hearing of the opening of this restaurant excited me but actually walking through the doors, meeting the owners and eating the fabulous food, I am literally on cloud nine.
Maricela and Antonio (owners) have really opened a gem of a restaurant. The Arroz con Pollo is perfect (just like how my mom makes it), the Saril (sorrell or hibiscus drink) is phenomenal and the Plantanos en Tentacion (Temptation Plantains) are to die for... and this is only a sampling of the items I've had since I've been to Conoce mi Panama 3 times already. What makes this such a great experience is that all the food is so authentic and fresh. Carimañolas, Yuca Fritas, Ceviche (made with Corvina), Hojaldras, Chicheme, Escoveitch fish, Patacones.. not to mention, the owners are so warm and friendly!
In short, EVERYTHING is good. I encourage you to visit if you want a TRUE Panamanian experience. As Antonio says, once you've stepped through the doors of Conoce Mi Panama, you've left the United States and have entered Panama!!
