Upon arriving to the restaurant, the aroma of the food made my tastes buds shake! I couldn't wait to see the menu. The service was outstanding, the server was very Knowledgeable and our drinks came only minutes after he left with our appetizer order. Great selection of beer and tequila’s. Appetizers…We had the “Hongos Borachos” (drunk mushrooms) and the variety combo platter. Both were fantastic, especially the drunk mushroom’s sautéed in the best tequila. After 15 minutes of looking at the menu, I chose the “Carnitas Chipotle”

The meat was so incredibly tender and the spices were delicious. A very well balanced entree and very hearty. All he portions were very generous, another big hits at the table was the Pollo con Mole. I would invite family, friends and clients to this spot for an amazing experience.

El Nuevo was almost as delicious as the Mexican food I'm used to from the west (more specifically NM and CO) plus it was reasonably priced and the staff is super friendly. I would definitely recommend the chicken enchiladas and combination Fajitas. Oh,the food only made me want to do my boyfriend 2 times not 3 like he states below.

This place is the best Mexican food in the city. My girlfriend, a Forbidden Asian Princes and I went last week. She got the enchiladas and I had the Fajitas. Needless to say, after the fantastic meal, service and music, she took my back to my apartment and did me 3 times over the course of the evening. I would recomend this place to any guy who wants to score with his special lady, and also have some good food

The food itself was good, but our waiter was horrible. He took a good 20 minutes to take our order. We had to ask another waiter to call our waiter. We finished the chips and our waiter never bothered to ask us if we'd like more. He was nowhere to be found when we needed something. He took about another 20 min. to bring our check. And when we were ready to pay we had to give the money to another waiter, because like I said he was nowhere to be found. What kind of Mexican restaurant plays Salsa? Still have not tried a Mexican restaurant better than Lalo's.

Hands down best Mex in town. Very authentic food as well as some new very interesting fish and chicken dishes. We loved the chilled x-rated margaritas & my enchiladas rojas and his carnitas with chipotle. Best to try early on weekends.

Amazing!!This is exactly what we were looking for - an authentic Mexican restaurant with a hip atmosphere. The patio was packed and we were happy with our chilled X-rated margaritas and my tilapia and his carne asada. No room for dessert - but next time!

We were amazed with our first dinner at El Nuevo! The best freshly squeezed lime margaritas we have ever had. The Carne Asada and the Salmon special couldn't have been more perfect on the patio. Service was top notch. Best Mex in town!

OMG! This place is CRAZY GOOD!! I've never in my life used "crazy" to describe fantastic food, but while dining there last week, it's the only thing I could say between "Mmmm" and "ohmygod", lol Service was great, even on that busy night, and the staff is attentive but not pushy. LOVE IT!

What a great find! We walked past this delightful place and walked in to ultra friendly staff and the best meals we have had in a while. Everything was flavorful and and specials were quite original. We loved the Carne Asada Bandera with three Mexican flag salsas and the Tilapia al Mojo de Ajo. Yum Yum. The margarita flights were very tasty and quite effective as I forgot my scarf as a result! We are happy to go back again to retrieve it. Ole!!! Melinda

If you're a Northsider like me who doesn't get to Pilsen enough to satisfy her frequent cravings for authentic Mexican food, El Nuevo Mexicano should be on your speed dial. Most Mexican restaurants in the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area have left me cold--the food is bland, the chips are thick and greasy, and the ingredients don't taste fresh. This place serves up flavorful, reasonably-priced food (though you'll certainly pay more than at the local taqueria) that starts delighting with the chips and salsa and is good to the last tasty drop of mole sauce. The service is excellent as well--when I placed a carry out order and specified that I'd pick it up at a certain time, I was well taken care of, everything was hot and ready and just as I'd ordered, and someone even held open the doors for me on my way out! You really can't beat this place.
