For the price I paid, I expect exceptional, unique food, attention to detail and excellent service. I also expect to be served all my courses. I arrived with a group of 4 and asked for a menu so we would know what would be served to us. I was told by a waiter that they would verbal describe it when they serve each dish. The set $85 price includes 6 appetizers, 4 entrees (served family style) and 2 deserts. Unfortunately the staff at Arun’s is unable to count up to 12 and missed serving us one of the courses all together. The service was disorganized. We didn’t have a primary waiter but different people bringing out each course. There were times when the food would come out but we had no utensils or plates. When I initially was seated, there are these beautiful plates set out. The staff promptly removed them since they were just for show and never came back with any plates or utensil. Our first course came out and we had nothing to eat it on or with.

The portions were small and what was served was good but it wasn’t anything exceptional. I could have found it at any typical Thai restaurant. I was excepting Thai food that I can’t get anywhere else. I got served Basil Thai Chicken as an entrée!? For the price, I highly suggest you go elsewhere. If you want a good typical Thai restaurant, I suggest you find a place that doesn’t cost over $150 per person for food, drinks and taxes.

Went a few days ago. Not at all worth the price. Although the service is excellent, wine pairings lovely, and presentation elegant, the ingredients were extremely basic and dishes very bland.

Maybe it was because we went a few days after Thanksgiving and they had a junior kitchen crew in? I don't know. I know I got a lot of julienned carrot, zucchini (in Nov!), and unseasoned tofu for way too much money.

I went with my family to celebrate my birthday at Arun's. The twelve course menu started off strong with a wonderful crab cake over tossed water cress, with a golden fried taro pouch atop. The subsequent dishes were all good, though several did not necessarily strike me as anything extraordinary. Don't misunderstand me, the food was good- but nothing to write home to ma about. That's why i say Arun's was a bit overpriced, and for that reason it will be some time before i return, if i return at all.

Hi, I just recently went to eat at Arun's restaurant. I really didn't know what to expect being that recenty a few reviews on this sight have not been of highest regard. My boyfriend however, after reading in 1001 places before you die book that Arun's was in it insisted we at least give it a try. Upon entering the restaurant I was amazed at the detail and beauty of the restaurant. Thai classical style paintings on the walls. Thai angels in the ceremonial greeting coming into the restaurant bright bold color. We were greeted immediately by smiling hosts and waiters. I myself have had Thai food before but the appetizers and main course here were of a different level. Not only was the food delicious, there was a delicate sense of artistry and balance in how the courses were served and designed. Service was amazing. My water cup was never empty, and the wine list was as extensive as I have ever seen. Servers explained the different courses throughout the meal and the manager even gave us a tour of the restaurant as new mural paintings were being worked on even as we ate! Our meal was 2 hours long we got to spend our time and lose ourselves in Arun's. In the end we got the check. Although pricy (after wine), it was still less expensive than your average fine dining establishment. I am definitely going back when I can. I highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant.

Overpriced and overrated. If the price had been $50 it would have been OK. This is ordinary Thai food presented in a Trotter's-wannabee way, but at CT's you get the out-of-the-ordinary:not so at Arun's. Service good but waiter knows nothing about wine. In a restaurant like this, who cares what some Thai boy thinks is his favorite: at this price, they should know which wines (by the way: expensive!) would pair well with their food, and at Arun's they clearly do not know how to do this. Avoid.

I first met Arun in 1996, he was part of an invited team of Chefs from Chicago, who descended on Jamaica, and cooked up a storm. I was also lucky enough to be part of a group who with Arun were invited to Charlie Trotters for a pretty special meal, tour of his school, prior to opening and then the back of house, including his kitchen. I am a professional Chef, but after experiencing Arun's twice, I felt quite timid and humble. This is not for people who just want to eat, this is for gastronomies who want to venture to new experiences with foods, flavours and with impeccable service. Keep up the good work.

And thankyou, at least I have both tried it and wholeheartedly been blown away with your food.

As for your attorney, Mr. Clark, same name as me, but no relation, try again, go back, eat humble pie, don't bear this man any malice, trust me you won't be dissapointed.

On both occassions I travelled many thousands of miles when visiting Arun's, but would not have missed it for the world.

My wife brought me to this gem for my birthday on 12 September 2002. Contrary to Mr. David Clark, who felt he just had to inform he is an attorney and how dare anyone refuse him entry, I do not think there is anything bizarre about Arun's at all. I take that back, it is bizarre that people settle for lesser quality food for similar prices, when they could attend one of Chef Arun's degustations. My wife and I still talk about that meal.

We are going again on 30 May 2003 to celebrate our anniversary. We cannot wait and we hope Mr. David Clark continues his boycott.

    Ciao ciao for now
