I saw Brian and the Smil band at Clyde auditorium last Thursday. I was a little nervous but confident the band would pull it off - I was not disapponted!! Brian was more relaxed than the Pet Sounds shows over here in 2002 and the band were even more like a circle of adoring friends. It made for a concert that was tremendous fun, full of adventure, zany humour and fabulous music!
The highlights for me were the acoustic songs at the start (the band sitting on the floor around Brian), Heroes and Villians extended and recrafted suite, Surf' Up, God Only Knows, Vege-tables, Cabinessesnce. Also great versions of old surf rock songs (tremoundous energy from the band in the encores) and Good Timin' from Beach Boys LA album . Great strings and brass from the Stockholm musicians added to the overall enjoyment. 2 good new songs were also played (Soul searcher and one other I didn't catch). Great sax breaks ftom Paul Mertons.
Worth every minute of waiting since 1966! I hope a recording comes out sometime to capture the brilliance and fun of the show!
5 star concert for any Brian fan!
