Anyone who's ripping this bar isn't reviewing it because the FH is GREAT at what it's supposed to be: a place to go if you just want to pound beers and watch the games. I guarantee there is more high-def viewing area per square foot than any bar in Chicago. The regulars are really nice, the prices are great and there is no food, but you can order from any place you want. Great restaurants are within walking distance, or have your grub delivered.
Look, if you want a classy joint, no question...run the other way. But DON'T listen to Derrick, who said to go to Raven's. One step into that place and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Instead, make an informed choice. If you want to hang out with some friends in small joint that's generally laid back during the week, but fun and lively on the weekends, hit up the FH. If you want something else, carry on.

It's my home away from home. In fact I have my own mug there! It's a great place and I keep coming back every night! Tim is a great bartender! Bob

There is no way that "five girl friends from USC" are going to find this place appealing. If you like want to hang out with the guys who don't fit on Rush street head to this second rate place. It's boring and I can stay home and watch my own TV.

Recently visited Chicago with 5 of my girl friends from USC. We did the Rush & Division scene, spent way too much money for nothing and then luckily ended up in Lincoln Park at a cute bar called The Field House. It was awesome! Beer was cheap, people were great, and the guys were hot! We were so siked that the male to female ratio was so in our favor...(lots of sports fans glued to plasma TVs which made for better viewing opportunity). We met the owner, Pat Maykut..What a Hottie!! He got to know us and introduced us to his cute friends. When we come back to Chicago The Field House definately deserves a visit. Love you Pat!!! Love Megan, Rachel, Stephanie, Jen, Tammy, and Margo. :-)

Twelve of Us spent St. Pat's Day Parade weekend in Chicago a few Year's back, and we must have hit at least 20 bars for varying lengths of time in two days. The Field House by far was the least expensive and the liveliest, not to mention Very Friendly. Six of Us are coming back this year (2006) the same weekend, and You can be sure the Field House is on Our Itenerary.

Why do I get the sense that the only people who write the reviews own the place or places around it? I think this bar is pretty good. It has tvs everywhere and good drink specials. Its a guys bar but I saw a decent amount of girls when I went there. Haven't been there on a sunday for football but I'm going come back for sure.

what a pathetic place!!! usually a dozen or so "two-beer" drunks trying to impress two or three ugly bar sluts...that's the scene at this shithouse. Walk south on Clark one block and go to Raven's...

Totally agree with Justin,Jim,Jeff and Tom. This "bar" is a real class-less dump that even the Lincoln Park Trixies avoid (now that's bad). Good only for the 20-30something Michigan refugee crowd that so pollutes our neighborhood. I guess there's alot of these dives in Detroit that they really miss here in the REAL CITY...Well, take the Field House back with you to Michigan!!!!!!!!!

Well, if you like Springsteen this is your hangout!!! But, if you enjoy REAL rock&roll, pretty women, good drinks, honest barkeeps and clean restrooms I suggest you pass this dirty dive on your walk down clark street!!! Spend your hard-earned dollars anywhere else!!! Also, the place has rats due to all the free peanuts on the floors....
