i miss playing at the fireside...i played my first show at the age of 13 there, and went on to continue to play there atleast once a month from there on with my band Skullface, and with other projects including, Code Yellow, Chauncey, and with so many other bands i was in, especially during a fest which i cant remember the name of, that fireside had once a year witha shitload of bands that were god aweful in the most awesome of ways...also i got to play with L7 there with my solo side project, "Barely Legal." Those were the good old days.... -Kiki

To Katie below:
My Chemical Romance probably sucked back in the day when you saw them there.

The Fireside Bowl ceased having shows on Saturday night. Now it will be a bowling alley only. To prevent the place from being overwhelmed by closing night patrons, they hid this fact until the last second, which I think was a sad and sneaky but somewhat appropriate way to go. Now Chicago has no decent all ages venue and years of rock history has been erased. Honestly, if this were any other city...it totally sucks. Farewell Fireside, you will be missed.

The fireside is awesome. One of the greatest venues. Has it been shut down yet? I been out in California for three years now. Maybe if its still open I can head down there and check some awesome bands. What I would give to see Los Crudos just one more time there.

The fireside is the biggest shit hole ever!!!! Roaches in the bathroom!! But, I wouldn't replace it for the world...Im 22 now and the 1st time I went there I believe I was 14..and I've seen soooo many bands there it isn't even funny. I've gone from seeing bands like Reel Big Fish and Slapstick there (many many years ago) to seein my buddies bands playin there...the scene is great, you see tons of different kinds of people, and the fact that you can get all up close and personal with your favorite bands is the best thing in the world. So THANK YOU for The Fireside, it gives kids something to do, and it keeps us from doin something we probably shound't. Rancid put it best "When I got the music, I gotta place to go"

O man, if i had a car i would be there every week. THe fireside is so amazing for these reasons: 1.its affordable...I am always low on cash, so i hardly ever go to the movies or arcades or PC baangs or the mall or any place that exchanges goods, services and/or entertainment for money. BUT the low,low prices at the fireside allow me to see a great performance for less than 10 bucks. Movie prices are like 9.50...can you say rip off? 2.THE BANDS THERE ARE AMAZING.......most of the time 3.Cool People 4.MOSHING 5.You can also buy those AMAZING, yet rare CDs for cheap prices :) .....*sigh* man i wish i could drive...stupid age limit!!!
