My family made a reservation for 25 on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008. We were celebrating all afternoon and wanted a dinner to finish the festivities. Our reservation was for 7:30. We arrived at 7:25. We waited 15 minutes for the set-up. They were not ready. The waiter and the three waitresses were enough for our group, but except for the waiter, the service staff was not happy about being there and took it out on us with eyes rolling, and other ways of showing their displeasure. The ribs were dry and the steak was tough. The salmon and white fish were delicious. We were promised children menus for the six children in our group. The waitress insisted that we needed to order from the main menu. We beg to differ and got the children meals. Service was slow. One of the children asked for a juice and was told that it doesn't come from the bar. One hour later he got his juice with his dinner. We were disappointed. The two ladies that I talked to for the planning of this dinner were wonderful.

Always use to go to GaleStreet, especially on Saturdays, but for the last year the food has made me sick, the prime rib always come out like mush with alot of seasoning and the salad bar is old and tired. So we are abandoning the old establishment. Sorry

GOOD NEWS! The drunks have been persuaded to leave. Haven't been in a while and was happy to see the bar area cleaned up. Now work on the food...never the same twice. Ribs are dry, rolls are tasteless, salad bar is a thing of the past, fish was frozen and the speghetti is God awful with meatballs that are gross. Don't stay late cuz' the waiters get sloppy drunk over the bar, fall over the table. Most better places do not allow the help to make their resturant a free for all.

Big mistake to move away from the lake George what were you thinking........ The local drunks that stumble out of there everday is just distrubing I will not eat in your place ever again. I so insulted by the local drunks that you have at ther bar in late afternoon with there dirty comments. Just sitting there passing comments to each other over customer coming in and our of the resturant. Get rid of them clean up the bar and start getting a better croud in there. You can only live off your father reputation just so long. It's hard work and lots and lots of long hours to make it work. #1 Get rid of the drunks #2 Open the doors and try to bring back the good people#3 listen to your customers.

We've been going to Glae street for over 23 years... Was the best and still is. It's the freinds and food that make it a place you want to visit often. A nice place where you cvan relax and they take care of you. Worth the trip.

Remember when this was a great resturant showcasing entertainment? The spaghetti sauce is the worst in the world, the fish is served frozen in the center and the entertainment is wasted as it is shoved into a corner of the bar that houses local drunks who would scream and yell about sports on the TVs. Congrats...the new owner managed to take a fine night spot and trash it in just a few years.

I've been going to Gale Street Inn for 25 years now. I still don't understand why they didn't keep the original restaurant on the lake. It was so beautiful in there and the bar atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. The location across the street is not very pretty, you can't see the lake unless you sit right up on the front windows and watch drug busts, speeding cars and the ever so romantic sight of police lights flashing. Ok, the inside is clean and no very classy, but the food and service is EXCELLENT. We live about a 1/2 hour away and we always go there once a month. Their Prime Rib is OUTSTANDING, the best by far in he northern Illinois area, and believe me, we have tried everywhere. The BBQ ribs are also good, but I ahve had better. If they bottled their homemade Garlic salad dressing and sold it in stores the restaurant would make a fortune.....the absoulte BEST Garlic dressing in the world.

Ok, the bar area is another story. UGH, smokey and cramped. Peter Guerrin is an excellent entertainer and he needs more room to preform. It's a great time to have some drinks and get up and dance to his show...and he does one hell of a great show...believe me. Take it for what it is, we have remained regular customers for 25 years and will continue because of the Prime Rib, the yummy au gratin potatoes and the large salad bar with that excellent Garlic dressing!

If you want great food, go there. If you want a romantic setting you are better off elsewhere.

Great site to read these reviews. I used to go to the old GSI with my parents in the late 70's and then I asked my wife Patti to marry me in 1986 there. They had the best (split) crab legs ever. I wanted to visit again next time I was back, but not now. Thanks for the reviews so I won't waste my time and money. I miss the old GSI and owners who knew how to give great food and service.

I go to Gale Street about once a week. I love it everytime I go. The stuffed shrimp crab and the ribs are AMAZING! We also go for the kareoke and cheap beer specials. Love the restaraunt and love the people who work there!

We have been coming to Gale Street since the better location. George sure knew how to run it better. This location's owner has run the business into the ground catering to the locals in the bar. We loved the entertainment across the street, now just approacing that area looks shady and unappealing. I don't care how great the ehtertainment, we won't to told to sit around rowdy bar customers.
