My hubby has been singing the praises of the Gallery Cabaret for years, and I finally visited for the first time this evening. It was "open mike" night, and the cool thing was that the bad acts were so bad, they were actually entertaining.

Bar area is a bit smoky, but I guess that is just fine for smokers. Generally food options at Gallery are Slim Jims, chips, frozen pizza (cooked in the toaster oven) and popcorn (cooked in the microwave), but a modest (and complimentary) buffet is served on Sunday nights. Beer specials included pints of Leinies for $2 and pitchers of same for $5.

Decent art on the walls and a "diverse" clientele make this a environment great for people (and picture) watching. Enjoy.

My hats off to Kenny, a charming man, a wonderful place to meet others, & a wide diverse patron base. And music to fit anyones liking. a shame the place is not larger, but the atmosphere is all you can ask for.

The Gallery just knocks me out. Especially the Tuesday night jam with Fish and the Bluesfins. Fish is the most underrated blues guitarist in town. The level of talent and ability is tremendous every night of the week with the other open mics also.

I've had a great time every time I've been there and the drink prices are reasonable. Parking is also easy. Definitely worth the trip.

We were there Saturday 11/12/05 and saw the T-Bone Project. They were great! The main band was Wolfen (they gave me a free t-shirt:) The Gallery is totally remodled. Love the new stage with the mural of Lincoln Park lagoon and if you cant find the bathroom look for Charlie Chaplin or Mae West. Youve got to check out the NEW Gallery it has new bar stools, floor, walls, fans and ceiling. I cant wait to come back. The place was pleasantly packed too. Oh yeah the bartender was really cool!

Have to agree with Julie J...this place has some great undiscovered music, especially on Wednesday's singer songwriter night and Thursday's open mic. And, lately the artists displaying their work seem to be of a higher quality.

The Gallery Cabaret houses some of the best undiscovered/underappreciated musical talent in the city of Chicago. Garrett Lane is the toppermost and anyone that says otherwise is just jealous.

Thursday night open mic was great with the refurbished gallery PA system and all the great acts just showing up one after the other,yeah...a couple people sucked or were somewhat innappropriate but the women singer/songwriters blew me away and Garrett the host keeps things rolling along...by the way unseen eye, you've got that guy all wrong.VIVA LA GALLERY!!!

The newly-renovated Gallery is a great venue for music and just hanging, and the Bluefins Blues Jam every Tuesday is definitely worth the price of admission. (Free on Tuesday's, btw.) Their fearless leader Fish is a veteran guitarist who demonstrates that maturity actually means something in the blues.

Any aspiring musicians should check out this Tuesday night scene. With the cheap drinks and great free music, it's the best deal in town.

Recently I saw General Patten and Crew and they were awesome! Drinks were a lil pricey I think to off set the FREE entertainment! I heard Gallery is scheduled for renovation, check it out on the web. gallerycabaret.com What a fun cozy place!
