one of the best, most romantic fondu restaraunts i have ever been to. the atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, and prepares for a very intimate evening. the service and food are extremely good, and all at a decent price!

It is the best fondu restaraunt i have ever been to. Such a cozy, romantic atmosphere (i made my boy bring me), nice service, and well worth the decent price of the evening. Thier 44 years of practice serving people shines through without a doubt.

The BEST fondue ever! We spent New Years Eve at Gajas. It was WONDERFUL. Our waiter was fantastic, the bartender was superior. Knowledgable staff and excellent host..Jeff Lawler makes this a sure HIT!

Now that we recently moved back to the City, I ate at Geja's again after a 15 year hiatus (used to dine here about 3-4 times year then). Unfortunately, we were very dissappointed. Prices, of course, have gone up considerably - probably more than the rate of inflation. That would be ok, if the dishes and service were at least as good as when I last dined here. But, they have gotten smaller (less meat/shrimp/lobster, less veggies, and even less dipping sauces). Cheese fondue was also smaller and dipping bread wasn't even very good. Service wasn't great either - but, we understand that can vary with the waitress (ours was a real Ditz). Of course, it remains a romantic spot -- IF you're lucky enough to get a roomy & private booth (on this occasion despite advance reservations, we were not). Long ago we learned to make our own complete Fondu Dinners - even better than the Geja's I remember; so, I think we'll stick to making our own for the future.

Sorry, I don't recommend this restaurant. If the valet service can't even come and get your car after waiting for 20 minutes, it's not even worth it. I agree with the person below who talked about poor service. I also got the impression that the valet messed up someone's car.

Geja's is such a great restaurant. One can see why it is one of the most romantic restaurants in Chi-town, even though I went there for my birthday with my mom and a friend. The wait staff was very friendly and the food is really good and actually filling which is a rarity when it comes to fondu. It can get super pricey so do as I did and have somebody else take you there for a special occasion. :-) The restaurant is on Armitage in a beautiful neighborhood with no parking, but no worries, they have valet.

I have been to Gejas several times over the last 20 years. I was first introduced to it through a Chicago trip through my high school French Club.Needless to say, I was smitten from the beginning. My husband and I have gone to Gejas each time in the city. And my mother and I also enjoyed it. A 40th birthday will bring the girls to the city, and I have insisted we go to Gejas. Having gone in the 80s, and several times in the late 90s through the present, each time we have had exceptional food and service. Worth every penny. One piece of advice--call ahead for reservations. They are ONLY accepted for 5:00 or 5:15. But considering dinner usually lasts several hours, we have preferred not to wait several hours additionally. Bon appetit!

    Dear Geja's,

Before moving to Arizona ten years ago, we never skipped a month without a wonderful meal in your resturant. Before we left Chicago, I was given the Cheese Fondue Recipe that I love so much. I have had many Surgurys this year, and my mother who lives with me is ninty one years old. This makes it extremely difficult to return to Chicago. You do not know how much I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me another copy of the Cheese Fondue so that I may make it for my family for New Years Eve. I thank you very much.

    Sincerely,

    Yvonne Chrysokos yremax@aol.com

This is the best date restaurant I have ever been too. The food and service is excellent and it does not feel like a stuffy atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant to any man that wants to impress a woman.
