recently visited many art galleries along superior street. most were the same old works i have seen in the past but the one i found most interesting was the gruen gallery building. i loved the unique work of anna pales. her tree landscapes remind me of days gone by strolling through the park with my family.

Talk about great experiences. I hadn’t visited Gruen Galleries for quite a while and when I stopped in a couple of weeks back around the fourth of July, I was surprised to find it under new ownership with some interesting changes. The artwork is still top quality but without the previous emphasis on African art that seems to have been a signature of Mr. Gruen. This is a more contemporary gallery that actually is three galleries managed by three different owners on three of the building’s four floors. Each gallery is unique and, again, top quality. The original first floor Gruen space is laid out very well and enhances the work of the represented artists—most notably, Anna Pales’s painting s of trees & landscapes. I also found the staff to be quite helpful and knowledgeable and never felt rushed or pressured. Fun place to visit.

I found the employees to be very rude. Myself, and two others were walking through the gallery, making assumptions of how the artists completed their works and asking each other's opinions on the paintings. Being art students, we have a tendency to critique all works of art we are presented with. The two that were working, just sat behind the desk the entire time, rolling their eyes at us. By any means, we were not loud or disruptive. I just feel they could have been more forward and maybe could have given us a little information about the artists. The gentlemen working in the leased space above were more than helpful, and easy to communicate with. Thank you to them.

the art is nice but the attitude of the people are not good. for a public place you should be able to use the rest room. after traveling from ohare it was sad that i was treated the way i was. people in lincoln, ne. are more nicer than here. the people are just like the weather here, wait a few minutes and they will change. good-bye and thank-you.

I was there on September 9th, 2005 and saw work by Karena A. Karras, and WOW! What the heck was this work doing being tucked away in the back of the gallery? This artist deserves to be highlighted in a BIG way. She will end up being extremely renowned, so make sure you see her work! I searched her name online and found she has a website at www.karenakarras.com

GREAT GALLERY!!!! OFFERING MANY CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS - MY FAVORITE IS THE WORK OF ANNA PALES. HER WORK INCLUDES CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPES WITH A TWIST--- SHE USES MOLTEN WAXES OR RESINS TO GIVE THE NEATEST FINISH TO AN ALLREADY UNUSUAL VERSION OF LANDSCAPES.
