This is the first time I've stepped into this house since 1975. I grew up in this house, and when I heard it was a restaurant I was so curious. For family health reasons we moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas many years ago, however, my parents continued to live at 2148 W. Chicago until 1979. A trip to Chicago was planned by my youngest daughter so me and my husband could go back to the neighborhood. For my Mother's Day present she along with my childhood friend Joanna Czech made reservations for a dinner date at my old house. The food was delicious, and the owner let me go on a tour of my old house what wonderful memories. Now I have a new one of the hospitality and the most delicious foods. Many fun and traditional meals have been made in my old house, but now the meals come with a new flair. Many thanks to the owner, my family, my friend, and the fact that I didn't have to wash the dishes this time. Hugs, Lorrie

My wife and I have eaten at a Tavola 10-12 times in the last couple years. Obviously we like it! The staff is VERY attentive. The food is very good. The restaurant is intimate (i.e. only a few tables in a small brownstone building) There is a patio inthe back for summer, but unfortunately you have to go through the kitchen to get to it. Try it and see how you like it. We don't think you will regret your decision, but don't show up without a reservation as we did one night - as you might be disappointed that they are full up with people who did call for reservations.

Smokers are so severely and revoltingly stupid that they think a restaurant review board is the place for a smoker's "rights" debate. I'm surprised any of them were able to type a complete sentence without collapsing from mental fatigue. Oh, love the place, the food is excellent, the atmosphere...charmingly smoke-free.
