Straight out of the garage and onto the streets of Chicago, My Delusion is a female fronted metallic assault looking to takeover the world. Their debut EP, Demo is loaded with crunchy riffs, powerful vocals, and enough oomph to push a semi.
Sighting Bob Mould, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, PJ Harvey, and Curve as influences My Delusion manage to sound nothing like their contemporaries. The band, instead, are a rough, raw, and rowdy gang with four songs that are chunky metal tunes which, have more in common with Girlschool than Robert Smith.
Of the four songs on the demo, their cover of Concrete Blonde’s "Bullet," stands out as a pulverizing tribute to the band. It’s heavy, raw, and vigorous and the vocals of Suzi Finn are quite convincing. "Candy Apple," "Toys," and, "Shadow," are just as stout and taunt as the EP’s opener and pummel riffs and everything else into the ground.
My Delusion is an interesting lot, they are a band that finds Bob Mould intriguing yet they channel that influence into earth shattering riffage and dominant female vocals. This is a band that is carving its own path through the music industry jungle and their demo is a metallically impressive first step.
