Ok. First of all, when I went there two weeks ago, I ordered a rum and coke. simple, right? Apparently not. When the bartender came back, she tried to charge me $18 for three shots. None of which I ordered. So when I told her this, she came back with three drinks that looked to be rum and coke. Nope. Whiskey. Then tonight, I go and THEY TAKE MY ID!!! I didn't have a second form of ID because of the small size of the purse I was carrying, and they wouldn't give it back. The manager (Nick) tried to get $20 out of me to get it back. I refused, knowing full well that the state replacement fee is far above this. I don't care, it's the principle that matters. He told my friend that she was one of the dumbest people he has ever met (she is a straight-A student at Loyola) when he is the one managing the bar. Seeing as how they let in underagers every day, I don't see why I, with a real ID, would be stopped.

I loved this bar! it was a splendid time. The overall setup is great within this establishment. there's the actual bar itself, which if anything was the only negative part. one of the bartenders was somewhat of an ass. The bathrooms are clean, the bar in general is clean. I like how it is separated from bar/lounge, to dance area. it's a younger bar, and i love it. i will definitely be going back!

Wondering where the fraternity parties that you left behind in college went? John Barleycorn has it - hook up with all sorts of Trixies & Chads in this horrible bar...

The only reason why I was at John Barleycorns in the first place was for someone's b-day party. The place was awful. The guys acted like they had never seen girls before. Plus they were ALL immature, college idiots. The music was bad, the bouncer was a jerk....the list goes on. I couldn't take it, so we left shortly after we got there. As we were leaving, this guy walks into my friend and tries to pick a fight with him. All in all, the night was a fiasco. I should have known better; Yuppy bars are not my thing. John BC's was a combination of horrible dancing, drunk idiots, and bad music.

I've only been to the Lincoln Park once, and I had a horrible experience. I was there on a Friday night after 11:30 PM. The crowd at the bar was about 99.9% male, but very few of them were attractive. After about 1 AM, the bouncer was not allowing people to re-enter after exiting. Many people in my group got stuck outside when they went out to talk on their cell phones (to give friends directions to the bar); the bouncer didn't even tell them that if they walked outside they wouldn't be allowed back in. The bouncer wouldn't even let the ladies stand in the entryway even though it was freezing and they were wearing skimpy clothes. When I approached him and asked him why members of our party couldn't come back in, he was extremely rude. He wouldn't make eye contact with me and wouldn't answer my questions. I asked for his name and I asked who his supervisor was, and he completely ignored me. I had to speak to a bartender and then the manager to get my friends back into the bar. I can't support a business whose employees treat patrons that way. If you expect people to come back to your bar, you have to provide respectful and courteous service. If you have a good reason for making half-naked girls stand outside after they just spent a lot of money at your bar, you should at least have the courtesy to explain it if someone asks.

JB Lincoln Park. The bathroom is pretty big and pretty clean. The bartenders were cute and the outside area is nice when the weather is good.

That is the highlight of this place.

It is a terrible place to watch a sporting event. The days of the big screen tv are similar to 8track tapes. The food shouldn't matter because I don't know why you would eat here, but in case you forget, it is probably some of the worst bar food in Chicago.

I went to watch football games and grab wings. A few of my friends came and the tv's are awful and they managed to screw up wings and burgers which is pretty tough.

I'm sure people who go here just to drink late at night like it, but that is the only reason to go to this place.

I've been going to John Barley Corns for a while. Although the music is nothing special you can always find a friendly somebody to talk to. LOVE the old Chicago decor; crazy boats, old wooden floors... it has character that many other Chicago bars are sadly lacking.
