My boyfriend and I are huge fans of takeout sushi and have tried most of the places around lincoln park. We decided to try Kamahachi for the first time becasue it was 10:30pm on a Thursday and nothing else was open. We spent 20 minutes attempting to make an online order, only for it to tell us the online system was not functioning after we had submitted it. So we finally just called and ordered $50 in sushi, which should have been more than enough food. (Our average bill at other sushi restaurants is around $30 for takeout). However, after waiting over an hour for our food (even though we live a mile away and you wouldn't think a restaurant would be super busy at 10:30) the portion sizes were so small that we were both starving after devouring every little portion of our food.

I'm a regular and I LOVE it. Truly great sushi and nice service. I sit upstairs where it's quieter. The menu is more traditional, so if you're looking for the more fancy, nine-ingredient fusion rolls, this isn't the place. That said, the traditional feel translates into sushi made the right way.

This place is good, crowded but the rainbow roll is delicious.

The other reviewer must have had a rare bad night, because Kamehachi is actually quite a good restaurant. It is not amazing (like Sushi Wabi) but it is perfectly good for the money. Sit upstairs, too; nicer ambiance up there.

I want my time and my money back. Avoid this restaurant at all cost. The waitstaff is horrible(They have no idea what is going on). The food is mediocre at best, I've had better sushi from the grocery store. You can close your eyes and pick any Japanese restaurant in the Chicago phonebook and it would be better than this one. I would rate this out of 4 stars a negative 5.
