RKB Makes "Real Music" @ Katerina's

The Robert Kramer Bands' first show Friday night was a resounding success! The crowd at Katerina's loved the high energy performance and the music, executed adeptly by RKB.

Val Leventhals' vocal performance, first as the opening act, and then assisting on harmony and background for Kramers' songs created soulful, well-blended vocals.

Moving easily from song to song, RKB was in great form. Tunes during the evening included "Knockaround", "Smash The Mirror" and "Maybe" off Kramers' "Legacy Of Love" album. Kramer was in top-form, delivering powerful vocal performances thruout the evening. Some of the memorable moments of the evening were "Ghost In My House", which included a nice, jazzy New Orleans sounding soprano sax solo by Chuck Thomas, and an incredible, funky re-working of Stings' "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free".

RKB closed the evening with a high energy version of what is quickly becoming a Kramer classic, titled "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" .

A film crew was also there to shoot footage for an upcoming WTTW music documentary about local music.

With the first show of the local "Real Music Tour" in the can, RKB's next appearance is scheduled for December 2nd at The Gallery Cabaret! Don't miss these guys live!

8/05/03 Female singer/songwriter Val Leventhal & The Robert Kramer Band delivered an intimate, personal performance last night at the Wheaton Grand Theatre.

Despite a less than capacity crowd, poor lighting and a few technical glitches, both performers delivered a powerful, touching performance of many new original tunes. Val Leventhal was the opening act.

With radio personality Bob Scott MC'ing the evening, RKB came on and delivered a forceful and confident performance, owning the material and capturing the audience. Opening with "Letting It Go", they moved to "No Luck At All", an audience favorite.

With energetic and stunning background vocal performances delivered by singers Val Leventhal & Christina Grace, Kramer & Co. delivered an hours worth of well-constructed new original tunes and live versions of tracks off Kramers Live At Fitzgeralds release.

With veteran players like Greg Baroni on bass, Dave Smith on drums, guitarist Matt Wilson, & Paul Coscino on keys, Kramers' own incidental piano seemed to mesh perfectly with the overall sound, and his vocals, supplemented with Val Leventhal & Christina Graces solid harmonies filled it out nicely.

The highlight of the evening came at the end, with "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone", destined to be hit single material. If you missed this show, don't miss the next one. These guys are going places. For this bands "First Step Out", the next step will be greatly anticipated.
