Have heard so many things about this "place in a strip mall" over the past year or so we had to try it, Went last Thursday for dinner and I'm sorry we didn't try it sooner, It's not the most elegant location, But the "small" dining room was very cozy, The staff was very attentive, And the FOOD is wonderful, Had the black mussels in spicy tomato sauce and grilled calamari appetizer, Both were outstanding, The veal was full of flavor, And I could cut it with a fork (the true veal test) Also had a wine from Italy the server (Sam requested and it was great (not even a big fan of Italian wine) But this Riposso (sp?) did the trick, We'll be back soon.. 4 sure :)

I would agree that delivery is slow at La Gondola, but after pouting and complaining several times myself in the past I realized the quality of food I recieve is much better then most in the City, you get what you pay for, and sometimes quality food takes longer to prepare, order from Chicago's pizza or Taco hut if you need food fast, order from La Gondola when you crave great food, most of what they offer is 2nd to none !

after leaving my last review I realized I was in the wrong and the salmon was fine, my wife misinformed me on when the food arrived, it sat for 2 hours before I ate it, I hope La Gondola will forgive me for not being able to erase the review left because of my wife's incompetence, we'll be back for sure..

Delivery always takes well over an hour. The worst part though, is waiting an hour for food that isn't even good! I ordered the $16 salmon tonight and it arrived too dry to eat. When I asked for a refund, the manager said "that when it left the restaurant it was fine." What a dumb thing to say and what an easy way to lose a customer.

Awsome as always, this place has not lost a step after all these years, it's even better now than 8-9 years ago when I last had the pleasure of eating here, moved up north and forgot what true Italian really is. can't wait to come back with my family, keep up the great work guys.

La Gondola still has the original chef from "1984" I think Tony(past reviewer) needs to do his/her homework on La Gondola Dominic has a new business partner (Andy) now the food and service mimics the famous La Gondola everyone knows and loves, I think that's why business is up 40% over last year when Andy joined Dominic, the food and service is better than ever and to have so much parking available and the new Dining room is so great, so many others "try" to duplicate La Gondola, they never even come close.......the best is yet to come.

To answer one of the previous reviewers, Domenic was the original chef back when this place was great! Now it has channged owners, management and cooks so many times in the past few years, that the food has no concsistency at all. The service has also gone WAY down hill.

I have been coming to La Gondola for 10+years, although you see a couple of reviews from both the Trib.and SunTimes on the wall, im very surprised you don't hear more from people about how good this little place really is,I enjoy several different Pizza's from the area but Lagondola's always blows me away,art of pizza down the block received best pizza in Chicago in 2002 and their pizza does not compare to lagondola's,the pasta,chicken,veal and seafood are all incredible with resonable prices,I would however agree that delivery is kind of slow on weekends but they when it happened to me last week 20 minutes late,they said sorry by cutting my check in half,not bad,don't even get a honest sorry from others that have been late,and they all have...

The food is great but the service when you place a delivery order is HORRIBLE. The ladies are rude and abrupt and if not for the great food, I would have stopped ordering a long time ago.
