Service was horrible. Extremely slow. Found fly in my wine which came from the decanter. It wasn't in my glass in the beginning. Cake and candle given to 2 tables around us for their special occassion but nothing for ours which I expressed we were celebrating our 25th when I made reservation and when we arrived. The food was below standards for a French restaurant. Heard chef tell a table the only reason in Wheeling is because he can serve fois gras which my husband said was poorly prepared. Every suace for each dish was the same. I guess he can save time and money this way or he only knows one kind of sauce? Wrote letter to the chef and owner about our experience and didn't seem to care enough to even respond. I can now understand why their rating went from a 4 star to a 2 star under this owner and chef. Next time I will go to Froggy's in Highland Park or Le Titi's De Paris in Arlington Heights for fois gras.

Amazing food and great service - Le Francais is back and the chef, Roland Liccioni, from the 90's has returned! We had the best meal of our lives and it was less expensive than many places we have gone to in Chicago. The degustation is the way to go but it is nice to be able to select a la carte in you want.

There is no doubt that LeFrancais is as good as Trio, Carlos, Les Nomades, etc. That's why I cannot believe that this place does not get rated on the same level as those others. It just goes to show you that there is politics in the reviews of the top end restaurants. The wine list is the best I have seen in Chicago and the more elaborate degustation menu (i.e.,the more expensive one) is/was one of the most diverse (in a good way)eating experiences I have had.
