Do not go there. I spent over $100 for two people. The food was sub par. The place used to be great but since they expanded, it is on the level of a limited menu diner. Very sad state of affairs. When I want to dine and spend $100 for two people, there are far better places in the city. DO NOT GO THERE and waste your hard earned dollars.

Seven of us went trooping to Lula last night for my birthday, and we all loved it! The appetizers were really good - we had the feta cheese tray, the beet bruschetta and the shitake quesedillas. They went fast! The bloody orange cosmo was right up my alley, and a couple of friends had another kind of drink, which they liked as well. The food was excellent too, though a little under-spiced (hot, chilli spiced wise), but one of my friends requested a dish to be made spicy, and it was great. [The lack of spicyness might be felt just because some of us like really spicy food, but the service was very prompt with the red pepper flakes we requested.] Everyone loved the dish they'd ordered, and 5 of us were vegetarians! The chef comped us this really good off-menu sorbets with pine nut pastry which was eggless, and those who eat eggs loved their honey-pepper icecream too. Amazing place. Service was very friendly, not snooty and very prompt [though this is one of the few places we've encountered where they didn't want to split the cheque 6 ways on a credit card :)]. Definitely a must-go!

This is the best place to eat anywhere in this area. Great, fresh, wonderful food. Breakfast is a must, unbelievable coffees and organic free range eggs!

I beg to differ. The upscale Lula Cafe is pretentious compared to the eatery of the same name that used to be on the spot; every time I've been there, service and hosting have been disorganized. It's overpriced, too. Why go there when some of the best tacos in the city, at El Cid, are just two block away?

Lula cafe is amazing, amazing I say, amazing.
Seriously, amazing. Best value in Chicago. You'll find a better meal in Chicago certainly, but you'll pay out the ass end for it. The flavor is outstanding, fresh, healthy, reasonably priced. The wine list is pretty tame, and the breakfast is really good.
As far as the person two posts below me, talking about how they kicked her out for taking too long to eat during brunch, well I'm glad they did. It's a restaurant, not your god damned living room. Restaurants are for eating, drinking, spending, and leaving. When you decide that you want to sit in your seat for an extra hour so you can read after you're done eating, realize that you're costing that server money.

Lula Cafe is def. not a place you'd regret going. Their creations are delicious, the waitstaff is helpful, and seeing the local art is pretty neat. I have yet to be disappointed, and although there can be a bit of a long wait, it's def. worth it.

Lived in Logan Square for five years and I know you'll find no better food in the neighborhood. But the service and wait times at Lula are terrible and have gotten progressively worse over the years. I was even kicked out during Sunday brunch a few weeks ago for taking my time with breakfast.

Was in Chicago over 2006 Memorial Day weekend and happened to find this place before catching the train...I was in a rush and it was Sunday morning brunch crowd. We ordered our omelet/eggs florentine dishes to go and the busy waiter was very accomodating and helpful. The food was fabulous and the coffee was excellent. I will return to this restaurant again the next time I visit Chicago.
