Margies is awesome, used to go there as a treat with my grandmother as a child. 37 years later, still love the place. It is a busy place, so make sure you get the attention of the people in order to get on the seating list. Icecream menu is awesome!

I was very disappointed! I went with my family and none of us finished our ice cream. The ice cream is not a quality ice cream. The hot fudge wasn't bad, but wasn't warm. The place is small and there was an Indian family sitting at the next booth eating McDonald's, While we waited 30 min to be seated. If you're expecting a quality Ice Cream this is not the place to go!

Oh wow,. I am now 40 and have always had a pleasent experience. But lately I have to admit, the "young" servers aren't all that friendly, But they need to watch who they are serving because you never know is actually dropping by. Hint Hint.... Although I get grief lately there, I will still go back because I have been going since I was a little kid growing up on Cortland and Wolcott.

I too was exited about going to Margie's. I was floored by the lack of respect the people there have for their costumers. It seemed as if they were doing me a favor for serving me. I don't understand why the owner(s) don't realize how dumb their business practice is. I hope and pray that they can continue for many more years, I just hope take a course on costumer relations. I am sad to say that I will NEVER go back to that place. I will also discourage others to go there. their ice cream is good, but not good enough for people to insult you.

Margie's Candies is run like an antique store, so don't bring children there. We found that out the hard way today. My sister, husband and four children (ages4-12) flew in from California to visit us. She read about Margie's, and put it in her plans to go there for lunch. The owner pretty much grumbled at our table the whole time as he sat in the next booth over. The children weren't out of control but excited to be there and see all the nick-knacks, the old table side juke box, and the extensive sundae list. A kid's dream, and a rare occasion for my sister's kids since she's a health nut. The splits were big, and the kids were in heaven as they gulped down one between the four of them. It's just too bad that the grumpy old owner ruined our experience, even so, that we won't return there again.

Margie's is where you go with a small group of friends to get sundaes. Don't expect anything more... the service is hit or miss, which is too bad, but don't you want to just enjoy the sundae and the people you're with? The vat of hot fudge is really the best part--the actual ice cream is nothing special. It's relatively inexpensive for the amount of ice cream you get. If you're not too picky and just looking for a good sundae, I would highly recommend Margie's.

I was introduced to Margie's the previous week and enjoyed the ice cream. A few days later I decided to take my parents there to try it. We arrived there at 11:15 pm, and stood there for about 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. After waiting, I asked if we could get seated only to get a response telling us that they're not seating and it's take out only. There were still people that just got seated and left at that time. I asked the gentlemen why we couldn't get seated since they don't close til midnight, only to have him reply back "We're home by midnight". My mother told him that we drove from far away to try their ice cream, only to have him turn us down again. I've never experienced this kind of rude and ignorant service before. I question how they are able to maintain 80 years of scooping with this kind of service.

I stopped by for a snake and found the staff rude and short. Not at all helpful to the point I felt I was imposing. The place is very dirty as I noticed after I placed my order. I lost my apatite canceled my order and left never to go back again. Do not go here as I’m sure the health department will close it down soon and you don’t want to be a casualty of such an unclean, filthy eating establishment.

..My girlfriend has been a fairly regular patron since she was a kid, so tonight’s experience was especially apalling. After waiting ..to place our take-away order, we approached the counter, only to be told that we “won’t get anything.” I asked the gentleman what he meant, and was told that there were seven orders ahead of us that he had to fill. I explained that we knew it was busy, ..Again, we were told that he wouldn’t take our order. .. he gestured past us to a young lady waiting to pay for a dine-in and told us to move, because he preferred to serve “ladies first.” It was the first time I had been discriminated against so pointedly, .. There were more words exchanged, confirming that we were not going to be served, and that he didn’t consider us – or our business ... I lost my temper and raised my voice; I told him I was disgusted with his attitude. My girlfriend, .. took particular offence at the indication that she isn’t female and told him as much. We left, of course. ..I couldn’t stomach the thought of putting money in his pocket..I wanted to get away and cry, especially after seeing the anger and pain in my girlfriend’s eyes... The fact that the source of the pain was someplace and someone familiar (the gentleman in question had waited on her before) was salt in the wound. ..it’s a shame that on her last days here, and my last regular visit, was marred ..by a blatant act of homophobia.
