great venue, TERRIBLE staff and security. make sure you are dressed right, sober like a nun, and if you are having a bad hair day, that is a bootable offense at the metro. watch out for the douche bag bouncers. i know several people that were turned away for no reason... even with valid ID and PAID ticket... no refunds

The metro is a bunch of shit. The security staff are the biggest dicks ive ever seen. A few of my friends weren't even allowed in despite legitimate id's. After the bassnectar show i talked to multiple people who had been kicked out for no reason by security and werent even given an explanation. I know i will never go back and you should not support such a shitty venue. FUCK THE METRO!

Smart bar is the best place to go. No where else in the city do you get a place that plays such good music without guys trying to dance up on your booty like a 7th grade mixer. This is the only club i go to. but bring cash, no credit cards.

i saw all american rejects at metro this summer. it was amazing. my advice, if you're short and can't handle yourself in a moshpit..dont try to get towards the front. people can be vicious. you'll still b able to see really good if you just stand in the back and then it's a lot safer.

JaGoFF IS Chicago FUNK with enough bass to turn your insides to sawdust! LOL (INDEED. Great way to put it - I second that :-) I was at Metro for the Mobfest Underground Hip Hop show too & they KICKED ASS!!!! WTF?? Metro has the best sound system in the city... I thought I was gonna crap myself from all that sub. 3 words sum it up best: BASS LOAD FACIAL!

The Mobfest Underground Hip-Hop Showcase at Metro was the most fun we had in a long while! It was hot as hell out (and inside too) & there was a long wait to get in but fortunately, things got started a little late and we didn't miss much. Actually went to see a couple of acts we were already familiar with (& everybody was great) but ended up getting completely punk-slapped by Jagoff... I had heard of them but never had the pleasure of catching their live show. DAMN! JaGoFF isn't exactly hip hop. More like hardcore Chicago FUNK with enough bass to turn your insides to sawdust! (justice served thanks to the Metro's world class sound system no doubt) They were absolutely over the top! Charismatic, energetic, theatrical even... like P-funk on steroids. Awesome multi-media (w/a huuuuge in-house movie screen for their V.J.) & of course, Metro is a beautiful old venue to begin with so the visual impact was equally as powerful. I will most definitely be going to see them any time I can - Kudos to Metro for hosting some truly alternative/underground music - especially for Mobfest.

Metro books some of the hippest acts to walk the earth. It's great venue. Caveats: It's standing room only and can get pretty crowded. Also, don't misbehave. It's very easy to get literally "kicked" out of Metro. It's also a couple blocks from Wrigley, so cab it (no parking available) on a game day.

Metro- 2.18.05 I had the luck last Friday of seeing a new local band called Magnus, they rocked! some of the music was slower paced, but they played with a lot of energy and really put on an awesome show. every song was different from the last, yet they deinitely have their own sound.....a sort of indie rock/brit-pop sound, with lots of experimental noises. the kind of music you can space-out and dance to all at once, they kind of put you in a trance. Wish their set would have been longer cause they really kept me wanting more. I'd recommend anyone who's never seen these guys to check them out, they're one of the cooler bands in Chicago. -Yamiko
