Moody's is so over-rated. The beer garden is very pleasant, but since the servers are not I will not be spending my $ there. Go to Old Saint Andrews...half a block away. Their food is great and the wait staff much more appreciative and attentive. As for Moody's, don't bother. Over-rated hole in the wall with waitresses that do not practice good hygeiene.

For some reason, the town of Chicago is under the spell that Moody's has the best burger in town. Far from it. I went last night with my wife and friend and the burger was nothing special and the whole experience was pretty unremarkable. It was not awful, but after hearing the hype, it was nothing short of disappointing. For the best burger I've had so far in the city, head down to the Edgewater Lounge, on Ashland and Bryn Mawr. Perfectly grilled to your satisfaction, great fries (much better than Moody's) and a wide selesction of beer on tap.

This place gives me the creeps. Most of the neighborhood does, too. I get bad vibes in this part of Chicago.

Many, many moons ago Moodys was always a great hang out! One of the only remains of the old B'way strip. Even with a bit of gentrification and a baby stroller brigade it's still an old hood staple. Sure do miss the coziness of running in there in bitter winter tho' as smoking is prohibited...especially after long meetings. Oh well, we still enjoy going to the patio every now and again in summertime.

Moody's has the best beer garden and burgers in the city. The pitchers of beer are so inexpensive I almost feel guilty. . . almost.

Everything about this place is stripped down, back to basic. You have a limited number of menu items (burgers, salad, steak sandwich, chicken sandwich) a limited number of beers + sangria, and a limited number of servers. Their food is excellent, the outdoor patio is excellent. The indoor area reeks from 100's of years of smoking, it's dark, and it feels like a laquer of grease covers everything. It's a good summer place for a good burger.

Moody’s Restaurant is a great place to dine out in the summer. The atmosphere is lively and it is sort of the neighborhood “melting pot”. All of the food is awesome, but the burgers!!!!! My favorite is the blue cheese burger. It is fantastic and please try it with olives and a glass of Sangria.

Everyone raves about the moodyburgers, as well they should. But another great thing about the food is their fries. They are actually made of cut potatoes, not the usual processed salty starch sticks. The beer garden is without equal in this neighborhood. PLUS they have a parking lot. The atmosphere is great! It reminds us of the bar from lord of the rings "the prancing pony" it's definitely from a different era. As a person who usually pays w/ my bankcard visa, the lack of a credit card machine and/or ATM is the only drawback I can think of. Definitely a great place to check out at a great price too.

Really good food, service and atmosphere. If you like blue cheese, do yourself a favor and order the blu burger.

It would be nice if they had more beers on tap, served taller cocktails & accepted credit cards -- My friends & I would spend a lot more time and money there kicking back in the beer garden if they did.

Never had a better burger. Always juicy and tasty no matter how you order it. Love the hand cut fries also, even if they don't match the McDonald's standard of beefy tasting crispiness. Wonderful place to spend a summer afternoon (in the beer garden) or a winter evening in the pub, with the fireplaces going. Great date place as it is pretty dark and discreet.
