I have had the good fortune to work in all three entrnonmeivs. Sadly, my last position was at a firm that thrived by creating a Vampire Environment. It was one of the worst career moves. However, I needed the job and benefits and live in a state which ranks 47 out of 50 when it comes to job creation. That's how companies get away with the vampire environment, by operating in areas where jobs are very scarce and where hundreds of applicants line up for just a chance at work. I'm well educated and have 30 years experience, but when the market tanked, everyone became another cow in the herd at the cattle-call. I'm currently unemployed and trying to hang on until I find a better work environment. The last one damned near killed me and I was in management. I'm better off losing everything than working in a place like that again.

The mutiny is the only place left in Chicago (on the north side) that is down and dirty, cheap, never a cover, always good people, a lot of times great music. Big beers, nice people, yummy punk-rock girls, free pool, good music.. it's perfection.

Holy Roman Empire is playing there tomorrow night (July 22). I saw them for the first time last month at the Bottom Lounge and they put on a great show. Everyone in the place came alive when they got on stage. Their drummer was previously in Rise Against and their guitar player (Neeraj) is fast! You can hear a sample of what they sound like at their site.

Nick Barnett member of "The Odd Trio" and "Earthworm" is playing at The Mutiny this Thursday night (5/19/05) at 10pm. Come by and hang out for a while, you won't be disappointed.
