I saw a great show last weekend: An Affair of Honor. Babes With Blades - has been toiling away in the trenches for years, honing their skills and putting up shows with scenes to showcase them in. With this production, they take the potential they have been distilling all that time and explode out into full-flower. The show is solid - top-to-bottom. But beyond being simply entertaining, the stories told here allow for reflection on pieces of women's history, social commentary and thought - as well as some keen glimpses into the emotions that drive the violence.
In may shows, the audience is left with the feeling that the scene has been created as an excuse for the fights. Here - the Babes With Blades company has created a show worthy of weaving its fighting skills within as another fine element of a rich and rewarding experience. I hope will mark the begining of a new era for this company - and it's a treat for the audiences that see it! Go and see this great show!
