Let's get past the fluff, this place is over rated. The current chef is no where as talented as the last chef. If he is so great why have the menu been the same for the past 3 years since the last chef left? So he added a seafood platter and changed the cheese on the onion soup, big deal. It is not the place it used to be. I have been to Philanders at least 35 time in he past 4 years and I know my food. This place is fading fast because the new chef is not very good. I usually only come for the bar and live music now a days.

I'm a new resident of the Chicago area and Philander's restaurant has quickly become my favorite place to dine. Executve Chef John Tuttle is a master in the art of food. You will never be disappointed with his cuisine! I always go for the specials but the regular entree's and appetizers will never disappoint. If you love wine with your meal, ask for the Sommelier, Mark Moliter (that's wine god for those that don't know) to recommend a wine. He's literally a Master of his trade and is guaranteed to offer an excellent choice in wine. If you're looking for good food and great wine, this is the place to be!
