Robert's death was the beginning of the end for real old-school blues on the northside of Chicago. It shocks me to realize how young (54) he was when he died, and (40) when I met him. Back then, you expected a 40 year old man to play and sing with some deep blues feeling, and they -would-. Nowadays, everybody under 60 years old is a Peter Pan, not quite 'getting' that they aren't pop-funk stars. I used to pride myself on avoiding nostalgia, but it is no longer avoidable.
