Without a doubt, PRIMITIVE remains one of my favorite retail destinations. Every visit is a new adventure with beautiful new objects around every corner.

Simply put, PRIMITIVE offers an astounding collection of precious, hard-to-find furnishings and pieces representing hundreds of cultures.

The staff is incredibly friendly and extremely knowledgable and it's not to be missed for those who appreciate the exotic and beautiful richly steeped in history and culture.

I have been buying from Primitive Art Works for years. I have had many pieces apraised and have not gotten repros. Many people say,"Your house is like a museum". Thank you Primitive Art Works. Well done.

Going to Primitive Art Works is like being on an exotic vacation without all the funky disease or jetlag. I can’t recommend it enough. If I had the choice between a trip to the museum or to Glen’s (the owner) PAW, I’d take Glen’s store any day. His collections rival any museums’ stuff. Plus you can touch it, hold it, and even take it home with you! What could be better? His staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and sometimes exotic. I met some relation to the Dali Lama there and it was quite an experience. GO EXPLORE THE PLACE! IT’S INCREDIBLE! You’ll experience secluded, exotic places and not get one nasty insect bite! And the new warehouse, all I can say is HOLY COW! (No pun intended.) It’s amazing anyone could even conceive of such a store let alone bring it into physical existence. WAY TO GO GLEN!

don't let the atmosphere here hypnotize you. Way heavy mark-ups for questionable stuff of more questionable age. the day i was there the energy was very negative. pass it by and head for wicker park or someplace else

Primitive Artworks is one of THE BEST places to shop in Chicago. Hands down - if the exotic intriques you, a visit to this store is a MUST.

Primitive Art Works sells many excellent objects that can add very substantial interest to the decor of a home or office. Considering the confiscatory/predatory tax practices of the city of Chicago, P.A.W.'s prices are often fair. However, P.A.W. mostly sells reproductions without identifying them as such.
